had connected my music system to the comp and kept the speakers right next to the monitor. did notice some distirion on the monitor when i did.. so i moved them slightly farther apart and it looked fine. one month down the line.. just moved the speakers away and theres this nice huge dark glob at the bottom left of my screen!! is there anything i can do about this? it lookss fine if the speakers are kept the way they were. What do i do??

Nothing major, you will need to degauss (demagnetize) your monitor. Usaully there is a built in feature on newer monitors that can removed that with the press of a button. If not, goto to local television repair or radio shack shop and buy a degausser, they're inexpensive.

where would i be able to find whatever utility to degauss my monitor?
this a pretty old music system. almost 8 years old.. but just love the sound from them. no way i'm giving them up for anything.. guess i'm just gonna have to keep em on the floor!😉
thank u

Too funny, it occured on my rear projection TV with older speakers placed close. The magnetic charge will go away though because a monitor is not a magnet. With the TV I would just turn it off for awhile and then turn it back on and the problem was fixed after the speakers were moved away.
