moved into a new house and my dad gave me a set of speakers....two of which are 5 foot savards(dunno if u herd of the name brand...) once i got it hooked up there was a color differential. the sides of the screen(right next to the speakers) started to turn purple! so i moved the speakers...and the color would fade a little but never would completly go away...the only way it would go away is if i were to tilt them towards the ground....any one have this similar problem and know how to fix it?

thanks in advance

It's the magnets in the speakers. Move them further away or try to get some shielding between speakers and TV.

Or get a plasma or LCD TV. 🙂

Or just buy shielded speakers that are meant to be next to a CRT TV.

Move them closer to the TV and see if you can open up a portal to the fantasy worlds inside.

Wouldn't that give him a view of your world? 😀

how would moving speakers give him an inside perspective of an anus?

If the colour anomaly is minor, use the monitors' degauss function OR turn it off and back on. This will make things look better. If it persists, then you will need to purchase (mumetal) shielded speakers, or move them further from your CRT display.

Cheers!

Strong magnets near e-beams will create X-rays. Be careful.

Something has to really go amiss in a telly to produce X radiation. Even if it did, the amount would be infinitesimal. You get zapped with far more radiation on a cross country flight!

Cheers!

Will you ever understand a joke? 😀

Now you will probably have to degauss the the screen to clear it up again.

I just went through this with a free bee TV I got. If you have any old dead monitors laying around you can rob the coil out of it, that's what I did. Make a double coil out of the one from the monitor (loop it in half) wire the ends to a AC plug, turn it on, and make big round passes in front of the screen while slowly walking away from the TV. Stop and about 6 feet. The coil WILL get hot while you are holding is, so be kinda quick. 😉

It'll go away after a while. Pretty much every TV these days has a built-in degauss coil that activates every time you turn the TV on.

If it's exteme and / or you're in a hurry, you can by a manual / external degauss coil.

Good Luck

this is true. do not leave them there or the color shift will become permanent. if you want to place speakers near a CRT, they need to be magnetically shielded, and yours clearly are not.

It never went away on the TV I was given. In fact I took it in the the shop and had it degaussed. As soon as I unplugged it or turned it off the screen went right back to the way it was. Now, every time I turn it off I have to degauss it again with my home made coil. 🙁
