I have a set of Creative megaworks thx 550 5.1 system.

When I am not playing any sound file or any music, I hear this hissing sound from all the speakers which sounds like a fire cracker. The noise level increases as I increase the volume.

Are my speakers going bad or what exaclty is happening.

I noticed this today only.

I have owned them for over 8 months now and never experienced this problem before.

Any idea?

my speakers (logitech z-560's) crackle a bit when i adjust the volume knob, could be a loose connection in the control pod/whatever creative uses for speaker control...

Well, I double checked all connections and they are all in place.

The hissing sound was due to the sound card. I have updated the drivers and the cracking sound is not audible at all.
