My spacebar smells like puke!

My 5 year old son was sitting on my lap and told me his stomach hurt.

1.2 seconds later, the keyboard is filled with yellow, phlegmy, very smelly, bile rich puke. A few remnants left down near the spacebar that I'll probably never be able to get...

He's getting a bath now and says he feels better. Hope he's alright.

Kids... Ya gotta love em.

After you've given the kid a bath, give the keyboard a bath (seriously). Just make sure it's completely dry before you plug it back in. It's not necessary, but you can disassemble it before soaking it if you want.

You can clean it, it's just going to take some work. Take it all apart and get the electronics out of there, wash it in the sink, completely dry and reassemble. Should be good as new.

You can actually stick (non wireless) keyboards in the dishwasher. I've done this a few times. Let them dry completely (60 minutes on each side should do it--maybe give it a good shake too). Works well and it looks brand new :)

Yeah, I've done it, and it worked well. However, I'm not sure if modern keyboards would survive. Older IBM keyboards used to be encased in a rubber sheath.

If it's throw it away vs. trying it, you have nothing to lose :)
