So ealier today i was playing some games and listening to winamp in the backround then all of a sudden my sound died. All i hear now is static , i tired restarting , switching headsets and trying speakers instead of headsets. Nothing worked.

Need some help

Computer specs:
dfi nf4 ultra-d bios: 512fix
amd 3200+ winnie
x800 xl (powercolor)
samsung 120g sata
ocz 450watt modstream
1gb corsair vs
noname fdd
nec 3520a dvd/rw

I'd try uninstalling the sound drivers and reinstalling them.

EDIT: first of all it's not something like it's muted or wav is muted or something, right?

What speakers do you have?

Chaintech AV-710 is a good 2 channel card. I didn't really use the mic input on it though so I'm not sure on the quality there.
