In another thread I talked about how my Sony suddenly had a convergence problem after 3.5 years and I had bought my only extended warranty in my life on it.
Well, the guy they sent to fix it knew exactly which integrated circuits to bring to my house, and de-soldered two on the mobo and put on the two he brought and voila! it is fixed.
BUT
What was really great is their were three lenses inside the tv and he cleaned them off. And my picture is now like 50 percent brighter and sharper!!! Its like a new tv!
And he explained that I could clean them myself like once a year, just remove the back which is just some screws. And clean it with eyeglass lense cleaner.
I am SOOO happy.
Kudos to the Circuit City extended warranty plan and Tom from Adams Electronic Service of Northfield, Mass.

If you own this or a similiar model, or even a newer one he says all the sony rptv's use this system and anyone can clean their lenses very easily.

I also offered the guy a free hour of computer support or repair (I own a computer repair business)

Extended warranties are hit any miss. It sounds like Tom rom Adams Electronic Service should be your goto company from now on. I'm glad you were happy with the service.

Good deal. I haven't been happy with customer service or repair service for quite a long time. I've had a lot of bad experiences with companies in the last 5 years....
