My socket 754 OC

This is the configuration of the machine I put together:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ NC core
DFI lanparty UT NF3 250GB
OCZ paltinum Rev2 3200EB 2X 512
ATI 9800 Pro AIW
Antec case with power
Pioneer D-108 DVDR drive
WD 74GB raptor SATA
Seagate 200GB UATA
Thermalright XP-90 with Panaflo 92mm Fan

This is my first attempt at overclock. This is where I am now:
FSB: 250X 9
HTT:X3
Vcore: 1.6V
Vdimm: 3.0V
FSB:RAM-1:1
Memory:2-3-4-10
Temps on smart guardian: 35-37 idle
Stable so far..I am wondering if I can push it any further. Also will I be able to increase the voltage of either the CPU or memory any further. As I am new to this process I am worried about frying either. Any help will be great. Thanks.

Yes it should go further. You're barely over stock speeds at the moment. Most NC's do 2.4-2.5 with ease and you definitely did your HW when selecting your components.

Your cooling looks to be more than adequate, and you might even be able to do 10 x 250 with a little more voltage. 1.65 is the most I feel comfortable with, but that's your call.

you can do better than that, also change the htt to 4x, the nforce 250's have a 1000mhz htt. Your at 750 at the moment. But dont go over 1000mhz by alot, most MB's wont post. Im at 1020mhz, but when i raise it to 1024 it wont even post.

Thats a high vcore for just a 50mhz increase. I have a 350mhz increase and im at 1.6v.

Try setting a divider and push the memory even farther.

Thanks all. My problem is that whenever I get it to 250X10 it boots up fine and win XP loads okay. The temp says around 35-37 but suddenly the monitor(LCD) turns into rainbow colors. The PSU I have is Antec 300W true power..I wonder if that is the bottleneck? Thanx.

PSU probably isn't the bottleneck, but it's hard to say since your chip takes a lot more power when you are overclocking it. Why did you start with such a low multiplier? You should use the stock mult to find the max speed of the chip, then lower it and find the max speed of your memory. Usually, it isn't a good idea to set your memory below 1:1.

I took it up to 230FSB with the stock multiplier which I think is 11. It would not boot. That is when I lowered the multiplier. Apparently the mobo has problems when the multi is set at 9. I found Oscar Wu's DRAM settings for 300HTT. My RAM is now set at 2-3-3-10. Seems to be stable now at 250X10. Will run Prime tommorow to see how stable it is.

Ketchup 79, could you tell me how to find the max speed of the memory( I am new to OC). I think that AT got it upto >DDR500 on 2-2-2-10 when they did their 2-2-2 memory review. Thank you.

Just make the multiplier outrageously low and see how high it will go. Also, do you have any additional cooling on the chipset? Remember Anandtech said it got really hot, and they didn't have a case. Might be worth it to put a little fan on there.

Thanks..Prime ran for 2hrs and had a fatal error. I dont have a fan near the chipset. My case fits only 2X 80mm fans. CPU temps are 32-35 when idle and went upto 48 when I ran prime. I will try what u suggested. Multi of 6 would suffice I guess? Should I try to raise the vcore-it is now set at auto-smart guardian records it around 1.55

One other question-should I run prime for a few hrs everytime I change the parameters? 4hrs good enough?

Raise the vcore to 1.6 than try again. 1.55 isnt high enough for 2500mhz i wouldnt think. Then run prime again. I usually let it run overnight, 9 hours is good for me.

I usually raise the speed until windows won't load, then I back it down a bit, then I test for stability.
