My social psych teacher is awesome...

He puts jokes in his test and does stuff like this:

Question
a) real answer
b) real answer
c) "don't pick this one"
d) "or this one"

And other various jokes. Last test for one of the short answer questions he asked "Who would win in a fight, a zombie or a leprechaun?"

Anyway just sent out an e-mail saying he canceled class on the 20th. His reason? "religious holiday... or something." 😛

I hate professors who do that. You make it fun and easy, your students like you, but the majority don't retain any information. You make it interesting and challenging, most students hate you, some students like you, but the majority retain the information for more than one exam.

Make it fun and interesting for a portion of the time, and your students will pay more attention to the serious things.

Exams and quizzes are not the time to be funny. I'm all for fun and interesting lectures...hell, the students can't learn if they're asleep/not in class. But, easy quizzes, exams, and grading structures hurt everyone.

I had a bio prof whose last question on the final was "what color is my office door?"

It was impossible to miss the color since it was a bright orange. Well that is if you actually went to office hours.
