My Sister Has Decieded 2 Play....

HOCKEY!!
I recieved a phone call from my uncle this morning, he coaces a mite BB team, and my other uncle is asst. coach. They asked if my little sister who is 7, would like to join the club. I'v played hockey for almost 11 yrs and finally my sister reliezed figue skating was horrible. She said "yes" This is so cool! i will be able to teach a bunch of crap!

"girls" hockey is actually pretty popular around here. Their are almost as many female teams as male. If the smaller schools were able to actually get hockey, we could have a decent sized league.

my sis aint playing on a all gurls team tho, its mostly little dudes but there is one other girl on the team.

I tried to play hockey with a bunch of my friends when it iced one winter when I was a kid. All I remember is my feet flying out from under me, and the hockey stick spinning off toward the garage wall of my friend's house. Then I hit the ground. Ow.

I love playing roller hockey. Never played ice but I imagine it's just as much fun, just a little more physical. (I wouldn't play ice anyway, I'm too small, I'd get killed. 5'6-5'7 140 lbs on a good day )

Cool deal though man. Glad hockey is gettin around.

I've been playing for 10 years myself... ice is definitely more fun if you can even play pick-up, Murphy55... it shouldn't cost much for an hour or two and there shouldn't be any contact. Roller is just as good - sometimes with even more skilled forwards as they like to skate with the puck since it's no-contact.

Anyway, I've been telling my fiance that when I have a kid, he's going to skate before he learns to walk... she thinks I'm joking. But for a girl to do so... I don't know about that. I mean, more power to you, but there's always generalizations about female hockey players. I'm not so sure I want my daughter to be thrown into such a group. Also keep in mind she will act accordingly also... can't get around that fact. Well, unless she's already like 21. Good luck though!!!!

Congrats here4amission. I play street hockey with my friends (even in winter ), but lately, we haven?t had the chance because of school.
