My Shuttle AK35GTR doesn't come with the VIA Hardware Monitor? (and another question)

FEDEX got here about a couple hours ago! Woo-hoo!:D Got the mobo and my XP1800 from Newegg. Arrived in great shape. Nice packing job. Anyway.

While reading the mobo instruction manual (we all should do this...

) I noticed something weird; they make no mention of installing the VIA Hardware monitoring utility. My Abit KT7R came with this utility on the CDR.

I'm browsing the Shuttle Driver/Utility CD right now...no Hardware monitor! What's going on here? How am supposed to know my temps? Can I use the version of Hware Monitor (2.1?) that came with my Abit?

Also, the Shuttle's CDR comes with a Windows GUI app to install the Highpoint Drivers. BUT, in the instruction manual, it also shows that you can load the drivers during W2K install (the F6-thing). Call me stupid, but: do I have to load the drivers TWICE?[b/]I don't think so, but I'm confused. Thanks, AT.

Thanks for the reply. Me and MBM don't get along very well...all that programming you've gotta do. Sigh. Anyone else know about the Highpoint driver thingee?

BTW, that "AGP Card Retention Mechanism" is the biggest piece of crap! Removed that badboy right off the bat. :p

Yea, my Kyro 2 wouldn't even fit in the clip right. I had to leave the clip half open until my GeForce 3 got here.

Bump for an answer to the HPT driver question. If I install the HPT driver during the W2K loading process, is that it, or do I have to reinstall again? Thanks.

no you don't have to load them twice
since the cd is at least a month old, i would go to hpoint and d/l latest first, burn onto cd if they don't
fit on floppy, load during install

mbm is simple, choose (voltage/temp etc) monitoring chip from flyout, like winbond 1, apply
just pick a new sensor from flyout for each new "dashboard gauge" (Sensor 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc)

don't let it scare you

Edit: I just checked website (www.hipoint-tech.com), latest driver is already on CD..... HPoint 2001203

Hi Bozo, thanks for the reply.

Hmm, my CD (the Shuttle driver/utility one) says "CD-262"...dunno if that's later than "203" or not...who knows how these people mark these things, right?
