I ordered two 120GB Mushkin Callisto SSDs that will be here tomorrow.
IIRC MLC, Sandforce controller

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-152-_-Product

I was planning on RAID'ing them BUT the lack of Trim support isnt sitting well with me.

My current setup:

ASUS P6t7 supercomputer mobo
LSi 8344ELP RAID controller

4-74GB 15k SAS drives seagate savio (currently 2-onboard SAS/2 on LSi; both R0)

1-WD 1tb black (storage)

1 500gb seagate POS (going to meet its maker, via .45cal)

I want to get the most perf I can out of the SSDs but I also dont want to have to deal with non trim slowdown.

My original plan was to:

2-SSDs R0 ->Marvell 88SE6320 SAS controller

4-SAS R0 ->LSi 8344elp

1-WDblack->ICH10

redundancy is not an issue as I have a WHS.

I do a lot of Adobe Premiere work and gaming not in that order ;)

Should I really worry about the Trim issues? if so should I put the SSDs on the ICH10 instead?

any help would be great.

TIA

You certainly don't want your SSDs on the Marvell controller.

The SF drives have good garbage collection, and I don't think you would even notice the lack of TRIM from what I have read. I would RAID 0 them on the Intel controller. Just make sure you keep a good backup, but I'm sure you already know that.

Personally, I would have gone with a set of Vertex 2s since they're sanctioned and supported by Sandforce, and actually cheaper than your link.

Thanks,

I paid a tad over $200 for them and OCZ wasnt an option for support reasons.
