my seti problems

1. my machine does not shutdown properly after installing the CLI client version.
I did the steps to find "Conagent.exe" but was unable to find it on my Windows 2000 Pro machine here.

2. every times Seti starts up it keeps asking me what exe file to work with? I am guessing it is really asking what work unit to go ahead and start using?
I would love to eliminate this. Just a small annoyance.

I had the GUI version for some time... I just uninstalled the GUI and reinstalled the Seti Driver with the CLI files.

Some help would be nice else I would be forced to remove the CLI version.

How does SETI startup? did you put a shortcut in the startup folder, or did you install SETI as a service?

If in the startup folder, it sounds like the shortcut doesn't point to the correct SETI folder/program. Go to the SETI CLI folder, right click on the EXE, choose create shortcut. Then copy that shortcut to the C:\Document & Settings/all users/start menu/program files\startup folder. Delete the other shortcut.

yup your instructions are just what i did before... but i went ahead and redid it
incase of user error

my pc shutdown problems are fixed

still having seti popup window at startup
in my seti folder i have 1-10 folders each one being a work unit since i selected 10 cache size
in my folder is seti driver.cfg, seti driver application, & user_info.sah along with the 1-10 folders.

to get seti going upon start i select my "1" folder and pick setiathomeoldclient application.
right now the startup file is pointing to my seti driver application... this right?
should it point to setiathomeoldclient in folder 1?

It sounds like you may have clicked on the New Client button in SETIDRIVER at some point.

Do you have a setiathome-3.03.i386-winnt-cmdline.exe in your main SETI folder along with the SETIDRIVER.EXE?

If not, Stop SETIDRIVER, find where it is, or re-download it and place it in the main SETI Folder where you have SETIDRIVER (the SETI client and SETIDRIVER should be in the same folder). Then Restart SETIDRIVER. It should find that seti client and start cracking.

and the Startup folder should be starting up SETIDRIVER. SETIDRIVER will start the SETI CLI client.

Thanks RaySun2Be

It seems to be working just fine. I was missing that file, I prolly hit the new client button at some point.

Is it safe to delete the old client file located in work unit folder 1?
It is labeled as "oldsetiathomeclient"

with my cache size set to 10 why does it not finish all the downloaded data before resending?
it seems to be only using that 1 work unit... finishes it sends it out and redownloads repeats over like this, this right?

If you have the SETI client in the main SETI folder, then yes, it is safe to delete.

It sounds like you have AutoTransmit selected. SETIDRIVER will automatically transmit and then download another WU. It may seem like it, but it is probably working on a different WU folder. One way to check is to unhide the SETI client. The DOS box will have the title of the WU folder (1,2,3,etc) that SETI is currently working on. Hide it again. Once it completes a WU and transmits, unhide it again and see what folder is being processed.

You can also select Display Transmit (or something like that), then unhide the SETI client. Watch it as it completes a WU and transmits. There should be 2 DOS windows at one point, the current Folder WU being worked on by SETI, and the Folder WU that is being transmitted then refilled with a fresh WU.

Glad you got it going! 😀
