Overview
Front doors open
The upper (logic) section
The lower (wind tunnel) section

Currently running a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise R2 evaluation copy. Will probably move it to Linux.

Logic was stolen from a HP Workstation x4000 - dual Xeon 2.0GHz, with 2gb of Rambus crap. Logic section hard drive (boot drive) is a U160 18gb 10kRPM Quantum Atlas. The lower section drives are all 80gb IBM/Hitatchi DeathStars.

Total cost? $0. Every last part you see there was sent to us as scrap and cobbled together into that monstrosity. (well, excepting less than a dollar worth of components purchased from a going-out-of-business radio shack - a relay and some connector ends.)

Well, technically, this one isn't mine. But a lot of the technical solutions we had to employ were my design. And 90% of it's content was provided by me.

But nice rig.

I didn't take the pics. And it wasn't my camera.

Yeah, but do you have 2.5TB of storage?
Oh yeah other specs....

6-500GB Seagate drives in a RAID 5 (soon to be a raid 3)
Athlon X2 3800+
3-Epson R200s
1-Epson R220

My server is a homebrew PIII-450 with a Katmai core. Runs squid and adzapper, I plan on adding some 10K SCSI drives soon.

On that one? No. Combine it with it's less ridiculously sized sister-boxen, and we have 5tb avaialable on our fileservers alone.

Five gigs? I've got more storage than that laying on my desk.

Faster? I doubt it. We've benched those dual proc X4000's against Pentium D's, and the X4000's come out on top. Smaller and quieter? Who cares. The damn thing is sandwiched between a cabinet full of other servers and a fire safety walkway on the edge of a production floor.

On a storage note, I need to take some drives from by boss, he has about 30 external drives, including 4-1TB drives, its just rediculous. Video Editing FTW!

My server is a Dual Xeon 3.4 sporting 2GB of generic ghettoness.
Gotta redo it though, adding a 3 X 74GB 10k SCSI raid 5 w/ a hot spare.
Gonna (try) to tack on some IDE and SATA goodness. Most likely 200GB of IDE and 600-800GB of SATA goodys.
