I have a GeForce 4200 and whenever I try to play or run anything 3D, my screen goes black and my system freezes. I have reinstalled drivers and Directx to no avail. I have a 300w powersupply and I'm running an overclocked 2100+ on an MSI K7T motherboard. I reset the motherboard to default settings(no overclocking) and the card still does not work in 3D. There are no problems running 2D games or internet surfing, etc. Any help will be appreciated.

I just ordered an Antec Trupower 430w PSU, hopefully this will take care of the problem.

This is a kinda new problem. I had this card running on an ASUS A7V-133 motherboard and everything was fine until it started to act funny. Whenever I ran a 3D game(Warcraft, Unreal 2, Neverwinter Nights, etc.) the screen would go blank, the sound would sometimes loop and my monitor power light would flash green and amber as if it were in sleep mode. The problem would temporarily go away when I reboot the computer but then one time it did it and no matter what I did I would not get an image on my monitor, not even when posting. I then tried an old GeForce2 Pro card that I had lying around and it ran fine albeit slowly compared to my 4200. I assumed my 4200 was bad so I was about to return it when my GeForce2 card started to do the same thing. I had replaced my motherboard after my 4200 went supposedly bad to the configuration in my first post so my GeForce2 exhibited the same problem as the 4200 in a totally new motherboard. Since I was getting no video I decided to reset the CMOS to factory settings and after I reset it my old GeForce card came back to life. I thought that possibly now my 4200 would work and lo and behold it did, for a short time. I'm thinking that I could possibly have a software problem because of the same occurance in 2 different motherboards and CPU's. Does thsi help?

Do you have the latest via 4-in-1 drivers? Also, if you are running Win9X/ME, I would use Detonator Destroyer and do a clean driver and DirectX installation.
If you still have problems I would format if you haven't already. With all of those hardware changes it could very likely fix your issues.
