Ok, i work for my schools information technology department part time. My previous coworkers that are my age are as good as me. we can do just about anything they throw at us. I was sent to install hard drives and operating systems on about 10 old POS dell computers when someone walks in from the office of that building say that there was a call for me. (i wear no cell for the same reason). anwyway, it was my boss and he said that he wanted me to show a new person the ropes. Well..... here is what happened.
He gets down there about 5 minutes later with some chick. I think, hmm, a chick techy, this might have potential, expecially if i am to tudor her. Then i remember, im a lifer on anandtech, i have no chance with her. So i decide to be proffesional and do what i was told. While she was connecting a computer (like attaching the keyboard/mouse/monitor, etc.) of one that i had completed, she asked, where does the blue cable go? it plug into the purple place? And im think, wtf, this techy cant even hook up a pc. So, i walk over and see that she can not figure out what port the monitor goes into.
I also tried to teach her how to install a hard drive. She could not even handle a screw driver. I let her do her thing, but when it did not fit, i had to show her what was wrong. Anyway, turned her lose after i thought she was competant enough. About that time, the other techs came in to assist us.
One tech, after about 30 minutes lost his keys, and we had to help find them. no biggie, i got payed for looking for keys. In the meantime, the computers that the chick girl had assembled did not post. so i had to fix them. In the meantime, for the next 3 hours, all she did was sit in a chair and talked to us as we worked and got paid the same amount as we did. But all was done in the land of technology. I had to know her major, so in the course of talking to her, i find that she admitted to having no computer knowledge whatsoever and she is majoring in radiology. I guess my boss hired her to help ease the pain of our wounds from cutting ourselves up on the cheap cases he buys. either that or he hired her to sleep with her.
