As soon as I got to college, all of a sudden I'm unable to connect to battle net, and the only reason I can think of is that my school is blocking it....wtf? They dont block any other games....

I vould install starcraft, but thats just a pain. Besides, do SC and WC3 use the exact same IP and port to connect to? I can certainly browse the battle net website.

The only reason I think it is the college is because a friend told me it was blocked, and I immediately tried, and lo and behold...

you know any other gamers around there? You can ask if they are having trouble as well.

Sigh....starcraft is stuck at "Accessing Account". Wtf? No other games are blocked, why battle.net? I can understand blocking P2P, but online games? I didnt know I was going to a fvcking communist school. It worked fine last year....

Mine would do that on occasion. I kind of think they had some sort of automated traffic program on the network that monitored ports for usage, then shut down the ones with a lot of traffic until it could be checked out by an admin. I'd lose Quake 3 access once a month or so.

Anymore, campus networks are crap. The stories people heard about them were back before broadband was as available and as fast as it is now, both the cable connections to the internet I've had since getting off the campus network have been vastly superior in speed, especially when loading pages.

What school are you at? It seems some students at my university are having probs with WC3 as well and asked to have a port opened in the firewall. That's not happening but he asked.

It's ok - last year when I was in residence @ university I could connect to b.net, but it was so slow and laggy it wasn't worthwhile playing at all. Campus networks are crap for online gaming. I finally gave up and got cable internet and split it with my roommate, halfway through the year. You might want to consider something similar if you value your fast internet as much as I do :).

Oh, I've been lurking these forums for about two years. I signed up last year, and have steadily been posting more and more. I just can't devote half of my life to AT forums *cough*ffmcobalt*cough*

Among others :)
