my scanner wont work right

hey guys,
i have a HP scanjet scanner, its a plug and play scanner on XP, now i plug it in i see it in my computer etc, and then when i click on it, it says that there is no scanning software found etc and it doesnt work
what can i do to fix this
i used to use the picture wizard

Can any other programs use it (Photoshop, Paint etc.)? Can you reload the HP software?

i reloaded the hp software, and it still wont work, this scanner works fine on my other computer
