Well...I formatted my system (winxp -> win2k), got sp3 installed, installed all my driver goodies...but when it comes down to the scanner..

scans things in pink :( It didn't do this in winxp...but then again, I was using the built-in scanner feature.

(Sadly) I own a Umax 3450 and I have 3.75 (i think that's it) drivers/program running.

Anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks :)

Doing a bit more testing...

Black and white work ok, but color will give me the pink problem.

Ideas?

Well you did not state what scanner you have but somewhere in the scanner program there is a place to change the color saturation for each color. You will need to find this and change the settings.

You need to try another twain driver for the scanner.
I don't think Win2k has every drivers so you
may have used the wrong one.

I had one of those scanners and luckly did not have any problem with it. Mine came with some software other than the drivers, did you get the program CD with the scanner? I think mine came with U-Lead and it worked pretty good, you might try and find some scanner software that will work on your scanner, but scanners are so darn cheap now, I have seen them at Staples for $30.00 after rebate. Update go here and the person posting on there has a Umax maybe you can get the software from him

Does your scanner have a white-reference calibration routine? You might try running that if drivers don't resolve your problem.

Thanks for the idea bleep :) Yeah I got the CD, but I left it at home. I do, however, have the right app, vistascan (I downloaded it from Umax's site before they started to charge for their driver updates.) And then I noticed the link to the driver update.

Now it's starting to scan with a blue tint in some areas.

Since it works in winxp with xp's built in scanning software, i'm pretty sure the hardware isn't damaged. Sigh, I hate this.

Maybe I'll just take your advice and go out and buy another scanner.
