That is unfortunate. Knock on wood, my Samsung DLP is still working great after almost 8 years.

I have a 50" Samsung DLP set too. Replaced the lamp once a few years ago and it has been fine. Picture is still very good IMO.

I am thinking of replacing it though since prices are so low right now. Looking at one of the the Samsung LED Smart TVs. I can get one in 55" for $1250.

Panasonic has a 55" Plasma I can get for $750 though so I'm kind of thinking of getting that instead.

I own a Samsung FPT-5084. Haven't had any issues other than dancing green dots. Read on AVS that its probably voltage related, but I don't know if I have a local repairman.
