Every single time I call them they send someone out. THe only thing is THERE IS NOT SOMEONE HOME. None of us here can just request a day off so that the RR guys can come and take a look at our problem. It's sickening. This has been going on well over a few months now. They've came out over five times to see and "fix" the problem but they never seem to fix it. This is a three story house that we live in. Each story has RR. Everytime OUR RR goes down none of the other stories are DOWN. We don't understand it and it's getting VERY annoying. Does anyone know if I can talk to upper management and if they'll DO SOMETHING about it? It seems as these regular customer service reps could give a crap or the techs that come out are so damn ldazy that they'd rather replace the modem because they think it'll fix it rather than fixing the original problem and have them come back out. It's quite irritating to say the least and I'm currently on hold with someone. They're going to get a BIG mouthful from me because I am PISSED!

I work for RR...

Speaking to a supervisor won't do anything. They'll just schedule another truck roll and have someone look at your lines. Probably spikes of static or noise on the line causing it to drop off. If they haven't redone the lines yet, on their 2-3rd time out, they may decide to do it.

Mostly NBS, but occasionally for modem replacements. Generally they'll make the sub come down to the office and pick one up.

RoadRunner used LANCITY modems in the past??

the reason i ask, is NBS isn't an industry term, but a term from the LANCITY (non-docsys) era... when the lancity had a "block sync" light. No signal was always coded off as "No Block Sync" or NBS.

My RR always goes down for randomly large windows of time, then is fine for weeks. I've seen it spend days or just windows of 20 minutes where this happens. Motorola CyberSurfer Wave Modem in the Columbus, OH area. Something with the cable connection because the "Cable" light will blink, it keeps resetting itself, and it only synchs (cable light comes on and you're able to load a page or two) for about 10 seconds and then the cable light goes out again. Our cable tv feed is fine, but not the modem.

RR tech came out to attempt to fix it once... got here and said "well, things are working now" and wanted to leave right away. Sadly, he did so without doing anything. They have to know what's really going on, right ?

Columbus RR blows:disgust:

During July, it was down for 2 weeks straight when 3 different tech's came out and took a look, they couldn't find anything wrong. They made me drive to their office twice to do modem exchanges... then it finally came back on for 4 days then it went back out for another 10 days. Finally the head of the techs came out and they replaced every wire on the way to my RR box. Now it works, but at only half the speed it used too:disgust::|

This is the only real problem I have had in 6 years, but it took them forever to fix it...

Mine does the exact same thing... I have a 3Com modem... I live in the Columbus area too.

Which RR Network are you on? T-W or Insight? I am on Insight Columbus Rebuild #2, and my problem is the exact same as yours.

darn, the title made me think that you had a rolls royce motor!

That's what I was thinking. bacillus has a Rolls Royce?!

Why on earth would you think bacillus has a Rolls Royce if NOCTURNAL was the one who posted?

And for that matter, why would this title make anyone think someone had a rolls royce motor instead of the whole car?

My RR is working fine...mine did have sporadic cut offs but that was due to them placing a 12db spliter on my line...it should have been a 9db spliter

I have the old Motorolla modem in Columbus. RR is always up for me over in Upper Arlington. It goes down maybe once every three months for an hour or two. Very happy with it.

I had that problem too. They decided that the problem was the connection at the junction box was bad...

They took out the cable and saw it was charred from one of the recent storms. They replaced that one and I had a signal again. Ask them to check ALL of your connections.
