My rounded cable should arrive today! Anxious!

I'm in a sharing mood, so here 'tis. I just rebuilt my PC into a new case (does that sound right? 😕 ) Anyway, I have two more IDE devices than I did before, for a grand total of 5 IDE cables snaking thru my case. Suddenly, a full tower really does get full with all that cabling!

Me being the neat freak that I am, I didn't like how the whole "folded and zip-tied look" thing turned out, so I ordered some rounded cables. I'm going to take before and after pix and see if I can post them somewhere. Photopoint makes you pay for an account now. (The nerve of them! 😛) I'll also do the case temp comparison. Later.

=p. its just cables... i never really fell for them. i would be surprised if it helped case temp 2c.

Actually, my temps are fine. I just can't stand the mess. The Antec SX1040 is a great case, plus, I dremeled-out the front fan guard, so airflow is excellent. I just can't stand seeing a solid brick of cable all folded together. 😉

Ive always used regular IDE cables untill I had to buy some 24 inch ones for my sx1030 case, didn't have any that long on me, first full towre case ive had. Anyway I noticed that the rounded ones are about the same price as the regular ones. They probly don't do much for cooling, but less clutter is good, and they are sorta neat 😉

I have been using rounded cables since i built my system, looks nicer, and my temps did drop my 1c...

BChico,

I'll find this out tonight, but I'll ask this now. Are they hard to fold? Two of my HD's are fairly close to the mobo sockets and the cable will be too long, necessitating a little folding. Just curious.

Now, my two CDR's are way up there, and the cable will just be long enough (I measured!) That's gonna be sweet! Two round cables, neatly wire-tied together, taking up minimal space instead of two big-old wide cables in the way blocking airflow! I can't wait. Hmmm...I think I need a life! 😉 This is one of my hobbies....it's also my most expensive hobby!

I've learned that you never really do stop playing with toys as you get older; the toys just get progressively more expensive, that's all! LOL! 😀

True! The first time you use em they are difficult to hook them in, but not that difficult... After a few weeks they bend in and then they are really east to take out and put in... I have 2 hard drives next to easch other in my sx1030 case, that was hard, the two cdroms wont be that bad...
