Get rid of the roommate.

I'm a smoker and I HATE the smell of smoke in the house. Once it gets into the carpets, drapes, and furniture, it's there forever.

At a minimum, I'd make the roomie smoke outside...or move out.

Smokes what? Cigarettes? Weed? Pole?

1.) Tell him to go the fuck outside, unless its his house in which case, STFU and suck it up. I suppose you could ask nicely too.
2.) Ask him to share?
3.) Not that there's anything wrong with that, maybe tell him to do that in his room?

i was reading about tips on how to get rid of rotten milk odor in a car (when milk had spilled all over the place), and a tip was to get charcoal (the wood kind, not the briquette kind) and to just leave it in the car. Although I know translating this technique from a car to a home has logistical problems, I suppose you could try it?

charcoal is supposed to help get rid of odors by absorbing them, I think.

This smells like bullshit. You moved in with your 'buddy' so 'suck it up' or get the f*ck out. Why does he have to change his ways just for you?

He's got a point, did you know or discuss with roommate about the smoking situation??. We only smoke outside, Boomer is right, smoking indoors just leaves the whole house smelling like an ashtray, no kind of air freshener will really cover it up for long..

Start nomming on Fiber One bars and inform him that you will continue to do so until the smoking moves permanently outside. It will then be a battle of wills as you have chosen your olfactory weapon carefully...

Who the hell smokes inside anymore anyways?

And don't most landlords put it into their contracts that you can't smoke inside?

well, if you knew he smoked and you still got a place with him then you're a dumbass.
that said, have you asked the inconsiderate bastard to take it outside?

I imagine when they were looking at apartments, the smoker said, "Let's look at apartments that allow smoking because I enjoy smoking."
