A couple days ago, I came home and here's how our conversation went:
Her: Hey, do you have a blank CD I can have?
Me: Sure....but wait a minute. You don't have a burner...
Her: Oh....(long pause)...what's a burner?
Me: Oh. Sorry. It's a CD writer
Her: Oh. Right.
Me: Well, What are you trying to burn? I can burn it for you if you want.
Her: My play (she's an actress/writer)
Me: Your play? (At this point, I'm wondering, "How many pages can this farking Word document be that she would need a CD to store it?!!")
Me: (Takes a look at her computer) Hey, this file isn't that big. You can just store it on a floppy disk. Do you have a floppy disk drive?
Her: Oh...(long pause)....What's a floppy disk?
Me: You know. That little...never mind. I'll just get one for you.
I then proceeded to show her how to save a file onto a floppy disk. Now, If she were like 80 years old, I would understand her not knowing much about computers since they would be after her generation, but she's 25 and living in New York. How could she not know anything about computers? She even refuses to switch from her Earthlink 56k connection to share my RoadRunner cable connection because even though they would cost the same, I guess she doesn't believe how much faster it could be...
