He never does the dishes and when he does he just throws the dishes in the dishwasher covered in food. So when I take them out of the dishwasher every single one is covered in food. I usually have to reclean everything.

He also never takes the dishes out of the dishwasher. When he does this is how he puts things away...

That's just the silverware. The dishes looked just as bad but I already reorganized them. I can't wait until I get my own place.

Once I had roommates who would never do the dishes. My solution was to wash them myself, but then leave them dirty when I was done using them. In this way, they would have to make up for that time they never cleaned them if they ever wanted to use them again.

Well, then who takes out the trash? If you think seperating their trash cans can work, then the other guy just won't take it out.

When people agree to be roommates, do they not realize they're almost... well, "comitting" to certain duties? I don't want it to sound like a relationship between two people or something, but it's not that damn hard, if you agree to room with someone, you do certain things, like clean up after yourself and split the shared duties as fairly as possible.

Maturity ftw?

Yeah he doesn't take the trash out either unless I specifically tell him each time that it's his turn to take it out.

This is what happened last year when nobody told him to take out the trash...

Shawn, no offense, but you're coming off sounding like a whiner.
Who goes around taking pictures of the mess his roommate has made? Do you wait for him to leave so you can take pics of his dirty laundry too.
Confront him on the matter, and if he doesn't own up to his end of the responsibilities, then just stomach it until the end of the year and get a new roommate. I mean there are only 3 months left in the school year.

Welcome to college

I have. He's impossible to talk to. He doesn't listen anyway. He might clean up for a week if I'm lucky but then he goes right back to his usual self again.
