My brother posted this thread for a while back. He got a few incredulous responses, but it seemed most people didn't believe him. Well, it did in fact happen.
------
Today, my roomate is applying for graduate school and he asked me for some paper clips so that he could send his writings to a few different schools. I gave him a bunch of these since I did not have the normal paper clips.
He took them back into his room and then came back in five minutes or so with his paper and a clip and said, "How do you get these on the paper?"
I, of course, broke out laughing hysterically and told him to figure it out so he could learn some good life management skills. He spent about 10 minutes trying to figure out how they folded to open the clip. Some of the things he said while trying to figure out the clip were:
"It doesn't feel like it should open like this although it feels like the paper should go all the way to the back of the triangle."
"I've seen things like this before but they look different."
After coaching him with a little nodd for good and frown for bad, he finally figured it out by moving the prongs around the clip so they could perform their simple machine functions as levers. After laughing some more when he finally figured it out, he said, "Aww.. Now I am sad."
He has a 3.6gpa here at UF, is graduating with an English degree a year early, and got a 1520 on his GRE. He's totally crazy I tell you!
I like to call him autistic.. though, I dunno what I should really call him.
-------
CLIFFS:
- Roomate didn't know what one of these was.
- Roomate said funny things.
- Roomate is stupidly smart.
