Does anyone else have this problem. My computer is in my bedroom (of course, gotta have it close) and its always like 10 degree's more hot in here than anywhere else in the house. I can't even sit in my room without sweating most of the time.

What do you guys to keep your rooms cool? Oh, and I have a box fan running, my window open, and a fan overhead. Im dying here.

I used to leave my windows open. My computer room maxed out a 120 degree thermometer 2 years ago. I even designed a huge groundwater cooled setup for my next home because of it.

If you use a 19" monitor or bigger, it will produce insane amount of heat.
Change to LCD. The computer alone does not produce that much heat.

Where is your room facing ? If it is west with no shade, then your room is bake by the sun from noon till sunset. There is nothing you can do but either plant something or make a shade.

Maybe get a portable air cooler ?

Probably is my monitor. I never realized they got this hot though, always figured it was my computer. Or my TV?

Man, I need to design some sort of cooling system for this room.

I would guess its NOT your computer, your compute rdoesn't put out nearly as much heat has a CRT. I would definitely get a LCD or move your desk next to the window so the heat can escape quickly.

Is your room on the top floor of a two or three story house with no AC? I used to have this problem when I still lived with my parents. The townhouse was three stories, and my room was on the third. Also, the afternoon sun always beat into my room. It was always hot. The best solution I found, which helped a bit, was to exhaust the hot air out the window with a good fan.

Nah, its gotta be my big ole 19' CRT. The things a behemoth.

Maybe if I put it right in front of my window so that all the air goes out the window it'll help a bit.

Yeah and if you have a spare fan, have it blowing onto your monitor and out teh window.

see I've got the same setup as well, along with a 27inch TV in the same room. Only solutions is to buy a window AC, buy and LCD monitor, or turn off the monitor whenever you're not using it

I had a 21" CRT, or even two 21" CRT. My room would only get moderately warmer. But when I shoot up a game, it would get REALLY hot. Thus, I don't think the CRT causing the rise in temperatures.

With all the hot deals going around, a decent 17" LCD can be affordable.
You only lose about 1" of view compare to 19" CRT.

One test to feel how hot the CRT can be is put a thermometer above the CRT exhaust grill.
You'd be surprise :)

I have a 17" LCD and my room overheats about 10 degrees too. I just turn on my ceiling fan and open a window if it gets too bad. The ceiling fan's recirculation really does wonders.
