I recently submitted an RMA request to Newegg.com on my motherboard, an Epox 8k7a, but I am unsure on what to do now.

Now that it has been approved, how shall I go about returning this to Newegg. I have the original manuel and VIA driver disk, but I am unable to find the original box that it came in.

What are the necessary steps I should take to insure that I get my motherboard back in perfectly good condition?

One more thing, will they just attempt to repair it, or will they actually replace the motherboard?

put in a nice cardboard box from the USPS, stuff it with newspaper so the board doesn't shift around, then put that in another box with more paper.

doesn't need the original box, just box it up good, CLEARLY write the RMA number on the outside of the box (I do it in big black marker) and that's it.

its a luck of the draw as to whether they will send you a refurbed one or a new one as a replacement.

I just sent an EP-8k7a back to Newegg today....sent it USPS...darn 9.90 seems pretty steep...they really jacked their prices up!

Anyway, two questions:

1) I'm pretty sure that the mobo is dead...since I turned it off Friday morning, nothing was touched....and Friday afternoon, everything fired up but it just won't post. It just says FF on the LEDs but doesn't do anything. What would happen if it indeed was my T-Bird which died, and the mobo was fine? Do they even test their RMAs?...don't get me wrong...I'm not trying to screw them..something I bought from Newegg died, and experience tells me it's probably the motherboard.

2) The lady I talked with when requesting the RMA said they will offer me the opportunity to upgrade if they don't have stock (which they don't have now). Do they give you full credit or what? I would have no problem dropping $350 on a P4 setup if they'll give me the $120 credit I paid for the motherboard.

Let me know about your experiences.

Thanks,
Curtis

UPS is actually cheaper than USPS nowadays. At least, it is if you want to be able to track your package. Maybe even if you don't.
