My RMA experience with Intel....

I got this OR840 motherboard from ebay (In addition to one I already have) for a measly $15. But it was DOA and the guy dissappeared so I decided to RMA it to Intel since they have a three year warranty. The RMA process was uneventful. I filled up a form online, somebody e-mailed me the RMA number and of it went to Texas. They did state that it takes 30 days for the process so I waited patiently. After a month and a week passed by, no mobo so I called their RMA ofice in Texas. Being accustomed to blunt and harrassed customer service people (some you doesn't speak English clearly), I was surprised to hear an elderly woman's voice on the other end (after going thru 'just' 3 phone options). She was extremely helpful and after chatting briefly about the weather in Texas and in CA (seriously!) she tracked down the mobo and said she will give a call back in an hour or so. We chatted again and we hung up. She sounded like my grandma or the nice old lady down the street who always gives me cookies:) And EXACTLY an hour later (give or take a few seconds), she called back and said it is being expedited and it would be sent overnight. Next day, I get a brand new mobo:D. Way to go Grandma!!!

I've always had good luck with Intel and Microsoft both great companies and support thier hardware in a top notch fashion. Did he really say that about MS and Intel?

That's what I tell people. With Intel you pay high prices but what comes along with that is more than just the Mhz of the CPU.

I must be the only one who's had a bad experience with Intel. A couple of months ago I bought a P4 from another trader and it arrived DOA (I don't blame the other trader at all). I e-mailed Intel. No response after 2 days. I called them up and was told they would not RMA it. Luckily the other trader promptly refunded me my money and took it back. :(
