this sucks... I have good days and bad days with my right wrist/arm.... I had been doing great for a few days until tonight... it got so painful about an hour ago my right wrist/fingers/arm were just throbbing in pain, had to take 4 advil to calm it down...

So now im using my mx1000 lefty, not an easy feat considering its not designed for anything but the right...

I wish my dr. could figure out wtf is wrong with it... I've had multiple x-rays, an MRI, bone scan, numerous cortisone shots in different locations, 4 months of therapy.... nothing works 🙁

So an elephant, a Jew and a chronic masturbator walk into this bar.........

😛

Seriously though.............is this "using the mouse" related???

Or something else??

Logitech makes a lefty-specific mouse, but I haven't tried it. I use a generic mouse with my left hand primarily (both work and home), except for gaming and image editing.

One advantage is that my right hand is free for other tasks.

well im thinking i may just pick up a wireless mighty mouse and sell the mx1000 to offset the cost....

I WANT YOUR DOCTOR.

well, technically, it was my first dr., he couldnt figure out what it was so i went elsewhere...

the joke was along the lines of... "So......(long pause)..... do you have a girlfriend?... (smirk on his face)..."

Why does it always have to be an elephant?😉

I'm sure you've thought about this much more than I can imagine, but have you tried tracing your steps on a daily basis to see what it might be? There might be something in your lifestyle causing this issue.

hah i never let it get that bad, but i did get a bit sore after too much gaming, so i trained my left hand for mousing. it works. i also have a mx1000, but thats for right hand, my mx700 works great for left hand. didn't take that long, but now its second nature really, i can switch off and save my right for gaming🙂 double wireless is a good thing🙂

the way i hold the mx700 is a bit like how that evolutent mouse works. i didn't swap buttons for left hand setup, i still use my index finger to hit the left main button so the side of my left hand touches the mat. it feels natural enough. its not symetrical so you can't just try to hold it like you would with your right, even if you could get used to clicking with your middle finger or swapped buttons it slopes wrong in the button area for it to work well. index finger has to reach to hit secondary button but its not often and not hard. mostly use scroll wheel and click it as middle button so its fine.

also use an ergo keyboard, the multmedia ergonomic microsoft one, oem online its only about 25bucks. took a bit of training to get used to it too because it forces standard typing and my self trained typing sometimes made me use the wrong hand for hitting the ghtybn keys, but now it feels superior because it is more natural to use.

Try a logitech trackball, I switched in college to save desk space and haven't used a mouse since, 10 years later.

Get yourself an optical trackball. Your wrist pain will go away pretty quickly. I use a trackball for general use, but I still keep my regular mouse around for gaming.

I have the exact opposite problem.

I had a series of five shoulder surgeries back in the late 80's - early 90's when I was learning CAD. Since my right arm was in a sling most of the time I learned to use the mouse with my left hand. (I am right handed.) Now, I cannot switch back to the right hand. 😕

trying my mouse left handed for the first time now... its not that hard. i can definitely see myself getting the hang of it within a few weeks

why hasn't anyone said carpal tunnel yet?
your doctors didn't even suggest that?

both didn't think it was since i don't get the telltale sign of finger numbness... Also, my pain seems to float, sometimes its under my wrist, othertimes on top, it varies...
