I own about 1 year old lab mutt. Tonight after he came in he had a round (think donut) shaped bone in his mouth that he found in the woods. I didn't think much of it. Well an hour later, he still had it in his mouth. Upon further inspection i realized that it was caught on the inside of his mouth. His bottom jaw had gone through the center of this bone section, and his k9 teeth were preventing this bone from coming off his lower jaw.

I called the vet, and am bringing him in to get it sawed off, because I tried pulling and he screamed like a baby. They said they will have to give him a sedative, and he'll be there for a few hours after the surgery.

I hope this doesn't run me more than like $150-$200, anybody got a guess as to what i might pay?

Bummer, dumb animal. Well at least when he's knocked out I'll have the vet clip his nails. He screams and cries soo much when we try to do it, its not worth the fight. He was the runt of his litter (although he is 60lbs) and is a big baby.
 
Reminds me of when my cat who always seemed to want to get on the bathroom counter-top when I flossed finally got a 1FT long wad of floss intertwined in his intestines from a piece of floss in the trash when i wasn't around. Cost me $200.00.
 
I bet if you gave him another one of the same thing, he'd bite it all over again, without hesitation.

dumb pets. But for some reason, we keep them around. We have 2 cats, and this dog. My wife LOVES the cats, and really doesn't care for our dog. But I really wanted him, and over time i wore her down, to the point she finally said yes. Secretly she likes him, but won't admit it.
 
So his mouth is just stuck? Maybe a strange question, but can't you, like, cut it yourself? It's not surgery or anything.

We tried to hold him down, and cut it with a serated (sp?) steak/bone cutting knife. But the instant it touched the bone, the dog would FREAK out, and like do anything to get away. It was an ugly scene. and we tried breaking the bone w/ a vice grips, also wouldn't work.

Maybe one of those masterlock cutters that they use at schools to snip locks would work, but i don't have one of those

Sorry, no pictures. The dog is sleeping in his kennel in our room. If I wake up my pregnant wife for that, I might not live long enough to post the pictures.

the open core is about 1.5"-2" in diameter. Its standard bone thickness, about 1/2-3/4 of an inch thick. and about 1.5" in width.
