My recycle bin shows that it has items in it..when I open it nothing there..but..

When I click to have the recycle bin to empty contents it says I have 2 items to delete. It also takes for ever for the recycle bin to open now. I had a couple of viruses recently that my AVG scanner took care of...but I'm thinking this is a by product😕
