My recycle bin broke

When I send something to the recycle bin, it takes BLOODY AGES to do so, and my whole machine just freezes. When I try to empty it, same thing happens, then I get an error that some folder cannot be deleted because it's not empty... well I've always deleted folders that arn't empty and never had this problem. As a work around I set files to just perma delete but is there a way I can fix that without reinstalling windows? I tried doing a scandisk and memtest.

Guess having files set to perma delete is a step closer to Linux on the desktop. 😛

Just FYI, all the linux desktop environments I have seen use a recycle bin.
