Just received 2 X2-3800s [Retail], one last week and one today. Sold off my Opteron 170 which will be replaced by one of the X2s, other going into my home server.

Both are E6 chips, purchased for $295 w/Free 2nd day.

Any thoughts on which is better? Will probably test both out this weekend head-2-head and put the better of the two in my workstation. Maybe hit my A8R-MVP with a volt-mod while the machine is apart 😀

The 3800+ I bought from zzf was a Toledo core and does 2.6ghz at stock volts. But it will not do 2.7ghz stable with stock or 1.4v. My mobo, Asrock Sata2 ULI board has aweful voltage settings so I can't raise it any higher without a volt mod. Which, I don't plan on doing right now. I bought my cpu in Sept/Oct though, so my stepping is different than yours. 🙂 I paid $34?.00 for mine too.

Mine was the 'CD' version and not the 'BV' version which denotes mine is a toledo with 1/2 the cache disabled. Both versions seem to do similar oc's though.

Only way you'll know which oc's better is to try them out. 🙂
