Yes yes, I am a noise wussie.

I bought my Slot A Tbird a few months back and slapped an RDJD701 on it. Supposedly it was a very quiet solution for the moderate overclocker.

Well, to me at least, this thing is loud... granted it has no thermal paste on it yet, just the tape that came with it, but I doubt that would make a difference.

Any ideas?
Other solutions (like a slot golden orb or something else?)

A slot golden orb is definitely quieter, 26dB noise level. Quietest vs. Efficient fan around, I have my 700 up to 1009mHz using just a Golden Orb.

Change the fan. I know that Papst are selling a modified RDJD 701 (at least it looks like it) Papst

I too would like to replace the fan on my 701. I don't see on that page how to get the fan alone, but it might be there and I just can't decypher it!

Hmmm... does the Golden Orb provide enough cooling? I've heard it is a good cooler...for the price only though.

Papst's 50mm fan is rated at 30dB, not exactly too quiet.
