There are about 5-7 of us who plays poker regularly for about 2 years.
Now I used to work with them as servers and such so we always have cash to play with.

Up to about a year ago, out stakes started to get higher and higher.
High as in you can win over $1000 on any given night and lose almost as much.(have happenned over 5 times)
Since it started to get so outrageous, after someoe loses $100, $200, we would let them write IOUs.(bad signs).

It has gotten so bad that people would just bring $100 and then start writing IOUs. Sometimes people start the night writing IOUs right away.
I got burned once already that I refused to accept IOUs anymore.
This lady who used to be my manager owes me $400 for over a year. I don't see her anymore as I don't work there anymore.

Myself, I always bring about $200 and if I lose that I usually go home but these people have no damm clue.
This past night, after we were all done and cashing in our chips, there were $1200 in $100 IOUs and an actual $300 in CASH.
WTF!!!!! I got there late so 4 of these fvckers started playing with IOUs ???

One guy has about $1200 in IOUs, another has about $800 and another has $600. I know these guys will have a hard time collecting this money.
I warned these bitches about the IOUs getting out of hand but they don't listen.
Either lower the stakes of poker a bit or stop letting people write IOUs so much.

Anyhow I really enjoy playing poker with these guys as I usually come out ahead but the thought of bringing real money and going home with IOUs suck !!!

Oh,let me add that I think the main reason why the stakes have gotten so high was when we started doing IOUs.
These fvckers wouldn't be betting so much if they had to shell out real money.

Start writing IOU's with a clause that says that payment will not arrive until original IOU is paid off. That might do the trick

How about no one can play with the group if they have unpaid IOUs? That would lock them out and maybe give them a reason to come up with the money, at least if they want to come to poker night anymore...

you should just pay with the IOU's of the people that gave them to you

you have another $100 IOU then buy in with their money

I think IOUs are retarded but we never play with that much money

you should not let people play if they have debt to someone else

We used to play with IOU's when I was a kid. Ended up owing thousands of dollars. LOL
but no one ever paid them all off. That's what will happen to your IOUs

Rule #1 of the poker games I play in:

You can't play with money you don't have on you.

The problem if we decided to ban IOUs, we would lose 3 out of the 7 people.
No, I always use real money which is why the reason why I refuse to accept IOUs at the end of the game but I got really pissed off last time cause like I said over $1200 at the end of the night and there were only $300 real cash.
I was forced to take 2 $100 IOUs :(

After playing for 2 yrs, kinda hard just to quit your weekly poker game ya know.
My wish is for them to lower the stakes but RETARDS who's losing the whole night start betting big toward the end of the night wanting to win their money back.

The answer is to just buy into games with IOUs. Dont bring real cash, or if you bring it, dont put it on the table till you've run out of IOUs.
