I. I hate "arrogant" programs. you know, the ones which think it should take over your whole computer by reregistering file types, adding shortcuts to the start menu startup when not needed, or add shortcuts EVERYWHERE: desktop, start menu, and on top of the start menu (ex: winzip). argghh...arrogant bastards :)

II. anyway, are there any good program (ie won't do harm to the OS, nice looking interface, robust features, etc) that will notify me of events. for example, when you turn on your comp, a message pops up saying there's a doctor's appointment today, someone's birthday or a holiday. and if the program can actually notify me of events at certain times (ex. "It's 1a.m., get off the computer and go to sleep already!!!"), that would be even better.

I'm currently using Corel Family and Friends, but it's sorta buggy and not as powerful as I hope it would be. and I have no idea what keywords to use at downloads site.

I'm sorry, I should have specified that it shouldn't do harm to the OS (crashing it) or harm to ME. :)

It probably wouldn't be hard to program something yourself if you know what your doing. You probably want something free, but you could ask someone in the programming forum to get something up for a fee. (ie. bump, I could use one to).

"Arrogant software" is still not nearly as dangerous as "Wannabe Tech v0.0"

Once idiot at work somehow managed to associate all files (exe, com, dll, jpg, gif, bin, etc...) to Adobe Acrobat 3.0. The damage was so severe we had to copy everything through DOS onto the network drives. Guess who he tried to blame? Boy am I glad I take screenshot of all problems that could be shoveled off on me or my (former) team.
