I. I hate "arrogant" programs. you know, the ones which think it should take over your whole computer by reregistering file types, adding shortcuts to the start menu startup when not needed, or add shortcuts EVERYWHERE: desktop, start menu, and on top of the start menu (ex: winzip). argghh...arrogant bastards 
II. anyway, are there any good program (ie won't do harm to the OS, nice looking interface, robust features, etc) that will notify me of events. for example, when you turn on your comp, a message pops up saying there's a doctor's appointment today, someone's birthday or a holiday. and if the program can actually notify me of events at certain times (ex. "It's 1a.m., get off the computer and go to sleep already!!!", that would be even better.
I'm currently using Corel Family and Friends, but it's sorta buggy and not as powerful as I hope it would be. and I have no idea what keywords to use at downloads site.
