being that i just bombed my history exam, i am writing this. first off, i didn't really study that much for this exam, guess i got what i deserved. however, i don't see the importance of taking a history class in college, especially if you are an EE major. i understand that there is an importance, but this is taken care of in my 12 previous years in school. to top this all off, i have an FOB TA that graded my paper, and she is a very strict grader. when we are in lab i only partially understand her points that she is going through. even our professor said in the beginning of the semester that we can dump out the info right after we take a test. SO WHY ARE WE TAKING THIS DAMN CLASS? it sounds to me i'm taking history for no reason. another MORE IMPORTANT EE class could be taking the place of this stupid class!

sorry most of this doesn't make sense, but i am angry, and when i'm angry, i don't make much sense...

I think its called an education.

you're right, but i want to be able to be educated in things that will pertain/help me later. you see, i saw i purpose for economics, i saw a purpose for english, i DON'T see a purpose for history.

The purpose of history is to teach you men's past mistakes and successes. That way you can avoid making the mistakes again and try your best to duplicate the success. History is good at showing the consequences of our actions, whereas mankind is notoriously apt to make decisions with no thought to the consequences. If we don't examine and learn from ourselves, we will never advance. I think every college student should have to take at least 2 history classes to graduate, myself.

yea, but this stuff was taught in high school. i understand what you are saying, that it is important. but when you have a professor that says that you can dump the info right after taking a test and never have to remember it again...it just tells me how important the class i'm taking is...

dont worry about it. I completely blew off any "general education" requirement classes. Ended up getting B- or C+ in most of them because I focused primarily on my Computer Engineering classes. Yah, it kills your overall gpa but I could boast about a nice major gpa. Out of all the interviews I had, most asked for transcripts and not one company commented on my C in Latino and Caribbean Studies but received several compliments on my engineering grades. Got offers from most of the companies.

I think most good companies recognize the fact that engineering is tough and something has to take a back seat especially with a work load like engineering provides.

Well, you want to be a well round student. You don't want to be some freak person who only knows EE stuff.
