Ok Im a ps2 fanboi. Kinda. I have a ps2, with like 15 games. My ps2 started giving me DRE's and stopped reading all together. I tried to fix it myself, now it won't power on. I was very careful not to rip the power ribbon out and Im almost positive I didn't, but the dang thing won't work at all now.


I bought a new ps2, had it for over a month now so Im not returning it or anything.


Yesterday was my one year anniversery with my g/f ! She's the best, she bought me an Xbox ! WOOT WOOT !! !


Ok, now to my question. I want to *try* to fix my broken ps2 somehow. Im not really sure what exactly I can try to do, or what I did wrong to it. Anyone have any experience with these or have any ideas on what I might have done to it? If not, then gimme some random ideas of what I can do with it in the case that I can't get it working again.



If you can't answer any of the above questions or have any random ideas on what to do with a broken ps2 then just congratulate me for having the best g/f in the world ~ !


 
A new ps2 is only worth 150, why would I pay 150 to get it fixed? There was a warranty on it, and Sony said they would fix the DRE for free minus shipping, but they sent it back with a bill of 110 if I decided I wanted to fix it.


I screwed up by trying to fix it myself first. And why would you hate if your g/f bought you an xbox? I think thats an awesome gift !

The thought was great, I just don't like the xbox. 😛

You could try picking up a broken ps2 on ebay or something, and switching out parts. I think someone mentioned having a broken one in a thread about the PStwo in the software forum.
 
when my PS2 (got it on day 1) started not reading discs I too it apart carefully and cleaned the lense with rubbing alcohol and a Qtip.

works like a champ since.

I opened up my ps2 that they sent back to me, I got the note saying I needed to send in 100 dollars yatta yatta for a new one. Look inside and its a refurbished box... Im thinking WTF....


The Ps2 is a bloody refurbished working ps2. Not only that but they sent me a new remote and all new cables with it as well! ! !! ! ! ! I loooooove sony, I just wish I had known about this 20 days ago so I could have returned the new ps2 I bought! Now its to late and I have 2 working ps2's on my hands. What do I do?!?!

Im going to get that tonight most likely. If I can return my ps2 I bought to circuit city (the place where I also happen to work). I doubt I can though, its not only opened by like 45 days passed when I bought it and my store director is an asshat.
 
i had a similar problem...but i did end up ripping the power ribbon cable...after that, i proceeded to wreak havoc on the ps2, removing and breaking everything and sight....i pretty much went office space all over it.

then got an xbox 😀

go say u love your gf and play some HALO 2 😉
