I have a gigabyte ga-7vrxp motherboard and one stick of 512meg ddr2700 ram, and even when i set it to go 333mhz in the bios, the ram always stays in sync with the FSB, i've tried varying bios settings, latency speeds, updating the bios, but its always in sync with the FSB, even when i set the ram frequency down to 266... i used Sandra, and WCPUID, and in both instances they are the exact same speed, what do i do? help me.

Hmm.....
Ok....you said you have tried various bios settings, right? Now....the thing to remember is that you won't be able to take full advantage of the PC2700 ram unless AMD starts using a 166mhz front side bus on their processors(which right now doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon). Keeping that in mind, there should be a user define option somewhere around there for the memory and its options. Can you set the memory to 166mhz while leaving the processor at 133 mhz? After all, the 333 is ddr so it's only actually 166 mhz. With the processors, that's how they get 266 mhz fsb (133 x 2). You probably knew all of that already but just in case I thought I'd throw it in there. Check the manual on your motherboard. It might have some information about it as well. Otherwise I have no idea. I'm going to be getting a KT333 board soon so maybe I can help you more when I get it. Just keep trying things and eventually you'll figure it out. And keep asking for help! The people on this forum are VERY knowledgeable about this stuff....it may take a while but someone will be able to help you. Good luck! :)

Try running 3Dmark, setting ram once at 266MHz, and the second time at 333. You should see different scores (I had ~9350 vs. 9850 when I tried this, even though WCPUID always reported 266 for the memory.) The 5% increase in speed is the benefit of PC2700 ram over PC2100. Yay..
