Okay.. bought a new stick of micron 256.. got home, put it in.. fired it up, went into the bios (okay I've never set the cas latency myself before, on my generic ram).. there was a thing in there that let me change it to user define, so I did, and made it 2 2 2.. save and exit.. and it just hangs.. is this funny? or am I doing something wrong.. and as I said, they have a garauntee on it.. they say it will do 142 mhz at cas 2.. 7 day money back garauntee.. so what's the deal? I think I did something wrong.. thanks..
Oh yeah.. Asus A7V.. non 133a.. thanks.. later.

Is it guaranteed to do 133MHz at Cas2-2-2?
Perhaps it's only speced to run at 2-3-3 which is slightly slower than 2-2-2 but still technically Cas2.

Okay.. I tried 2 3 3
The setting are this.. cas ras and ras to cas or something right?
So I tried 2 3 3.. and it hung again...
so I'm at cas 3 133 now..
Is this even micron ram? I bought it thinking that it was.. but how can you tell? It says xerox in mainboard info .. what's going on here? It doesn't say anything about micron anywhere.. not on the stick.. or anything.. how can you tell? Thanks.
if you didn't notice that link up there.. please click it to see.. thanks.

Did you say the chipset was kt133? If so your not likely to get past about 113 mhz at any CAS settings right? You'd have to have a kt133a to get where you're trying to go.

To check if the RAM is Micron, look on the chip and see if the part number looks something like "MT48LC64M4A2." Also, try different combinations of the RAM timings. For example, I bought a Toshiba chip guaranteed at CAS 2. It turns out they meant, CAS 232.

Edit: Also, to check if the Micron RAM is rated to run at 222 PC133, look for a -7E at the end of the product number. -75 is 333 and -7E is 222 at PC133.

yeah.. I still got pc133 option in the bios.. I'm not trying to run my FSB at 133.. just the ram.. it keeps hanging when I play with it.. and I can oc the FSB to 105, 107 pretty safely.. so I'm hoping to run this ram at 133 + 5/7 to get 138 or 140.. and I want it to be CAS 2 dammit.. cause it's what I payed for.. and I don't want to drive all the way back this week just to return it.. cause I'm selling my freind my old stick of ram.. so I'll be ramless... :(

okay.. I'm an idiot.. it's too easy to get senior member status.. (I'm halfway to being gold :disgust:)
Igowerf, I looked at the stick.. and it's labelled.. "MT some numbers"
Then I looked at the old "crappy generic stuff" stick and it's also labelled "MT some numbers"
So now.. I stuck in the old stick.. having never tried to set the cas to 2 2 2 on it at 133.. (I thought it was generic crap).. it WORKS!!! Lo and behold.. the new stick won't do it.. but the old stick will.. funny, cause I bought the new stick to replace the old stick.. and sell the old stick to a buddy..
check out my new memory scores...
new bench's
I'm gonna start a new thread.. to compare to other ppl's..
I wanna know if these scores are any good..
