My Radio Shack guy is on battery crack...

I was at Radio Shack getting an adapter, and all the guy could ask was if I wanted batteries.

Every customer that walked in, he asked if they needed help, and once they did, he asked if they needed batteries.

He was saying stuff like, "Get batteries for all your home appliances today. What about your clock at home? Or your remote controls?"

As I was finalizing my sale, he asked, "Are you sure you don't need any batteries?"

MAN!!! Do all Radio Shacks do this, or is it just him?

I'm used to them pushing cell phones on me, and even satellite TV...but batteries must be the thing now!

Nope, they're battery whores at Radio Shack now. I came in to buy a USB cable and the jerkface hounded me to buy batteries.

IF I WANTED BATTERIES I WOULD BUY THEM, A$$HOLE!!

Now you are going to be pissed off because you needed bateries for your cable box.

The markup on radioshack batteries is a little over 800%. I would want to sell them too. 😛

I think they make 33% profit or something around there, some radio shack store mananger was telling me about the markup.

HAAHAHAHA

u made snot come out of my nose!

Dont think we need that much detail... As for the rat shack people here they do the same, wonder when this started?

A month or so ago I went into RS to get some cheapo heatsink compound, and of course was asked this famous question.

Joking around about it, it was basically compared to "You want fries with that?"

Yeah..they've always had somekind of battery racket going..remember the free battery a month card?? I always ask em where do they keep the automotive and deep cycle marine batteries?? My boat and truck need new batteries..

At least they stopped grilling you for your name, address, phone number, blood type, SSN, sperm count, IQ, etc 🙂

a long time ago, probably '97...i went in for a pair of batteries and the guy asked at the counter if i had seen their prices on computers and asked i would like to purchase one!

He was trying to get an "add-on sale" of some crummy little high-markup item.

The chain I used to work for would demand that all of their employees did this... there were five steps to a sale:

1. Greet the customer upon entry.
2. Go for the add-on sale.
3. Ask them if their purchase was going to be on the store credit card. (

4. Thank the customer by name.
5. Remind them to shop there again.

Batteries at radio shack are far cheaper than they are at say, 7-11. :disgust:

I work at radio shack, I dont really bother people about batteries, but we do have a sale when u buy 2 packs of alkaline's u get a 3rd pack free. but once in a while i mention it to the customers.

I just tell them I'll head to a big box store and buy a pack of 20 for the same price they charge for 4.

every store has their own lil things they focus on, most major stores its warranty...sears is in store credit...at the electronics store I used to work at we hounded everyone for a free cell phone...I can tell you that there were days that I sold 40+ cell phones, and not one customer had came in for one
