My Radeon 9800 Pro

ever since on this forum, seems i became nerdier and more competitive. anyways, my recent accomplishment was installing a VGA silencer 3, flashing to XT, overclocking to 459/780, and scoring 2852 in 3dmark05. i'm using the omega drivers 4.10 beta. the new ones got WMV acceleration cut my CPU usage in half during playback.

it is at the extreme upper end of most air-cooled o/cs . . . . . my Xt will only do it - briefly, without artifacting - when my case is super-cool.

my CPU goes ranges from 40-80 compared to 60-100 before.

Well ATI doesn't have a HW encoder/decoder, they just use one of the pixel pipelines IIRC.

The shader pipeline is still hardware assist, its not software.

I'd say your OC is past it's 'sweet spot'
(If you clock to high ,,, your benchmarks scores will drop)

I just did a search/compare on ORB at Futuremark.....

I have 5th place for any processor using a 9700pro.

I think it's probably the 1st place in Air Cooled
