Direct link to surfbest

I was getting sick and tired of ads and hacks. ALso, none of them work in linux. After hours of searching, I finally found this. Don't be fooled into cheaper services that requires special software (i.e. Juno, ATT i495) and won't work in Linux. Surfbest gives you your standard DUN dial-up username and password, primary and secondary DNS, POP3 emails, 2000 access numbers worldwide, Usenet group access, and the service is through MCI WorldCOm (V.90 56 K modems). BTW I do not work for either MCI or Surfbest.

They provide service for CAnada and US

Yeah, most of those free ISP are not for Linux user. $12.50/month is reasonable for what you're getting.

I tried DTS-Net a couple months back and regretted that. I'm now a firm believer in "You get what you pay for" with net access. I'm now using Earthlink and they were easy enough to plug the info into the router and I was up and running inside of 2 minutes. just don't install their software (Made that mistake on the laptop and took 2 nights to find all teh little hidden settings to put my system back to normal)

There's also a coupla plain old isps that charge about $8 per month with an annual subscription. I used to use one until the free ones came out.
www.cwnet.com - $99.96 per year
www.bigvalley.net - $89/yr $30 setupfee - 3 months free
www.pcmagic.net - $89 per year

most of these types don't have you install any of their crappy software.

I am only using this until my telocity DSL is setup. Who knows how long that's going to take.

Perhaps Pennstate should look into US history a bit. Every Vice President who assumed the role of President due to death/resignation was NOT elected to that office. Additionally, Bush WAS elected to that office. Live with it. I endured 8 years of Clinton. If I can survive that, you can survive this.

I'd just use netzero. dont email me or pm me or anything, but you can easily setup netzero as a straight up dialup connection no ads for linux or any OS

They are in the process of changing password formats. Not of the old passwords will work after Dec. 31. I wouldn't want to break the law to save $12.50 a month.

I too had enough with the freebees. Surfbest works great for the price, but newsgroups no longer function.
