My q8400 won't run on stock voltage ???

Just bought a q8400 off the egg with a asus p5q pro turbo board. When i tried installing Windows 7 it kept blue screening and i narrowed it down to the vid voltage. If i set the bios to auto voltage it will not boot without problems,if I manually set the voltage to around 1.3v its fine just wondering if I should return the cpu or just run it?is there a way the vid could be wrong from the factory or a problem with the bios?just seeing if anybody else has seen this

It could be the motherboards fault for not detecting it properly. What are the temps ?

Temps seem fine. Just adjust the vcore as needed and forget about it. Some mobos just don't get the stock voltage right for all chips. While I haven't seen one that seemed to be undervolted and caused problems like yours, I have seen plenty where the stock voltage is actually higher. I've also seen one where the stock voltage was low, but not low enough to cause problems, in the case of a recently bought Phenom II 945 whose stock voltage seems to be 1.25V according to the MSI board it was paired it. It's a bit low, I think, but it wasn't causing any problems.

At any rate, since you've got it working fine and the voltage is only 1.3V, I'd just keep it. That's pretty low and safe, and probably the actual stock voltage it should be running at anyway, well within the voltage range specified by Intel.

go ahead and install, check your voltage under load when the voltage is set to auto. What is it reporting as? Your board may be getting old.
