Do you usually take your dog to the vet when he/she gets a cold?

It might be strep... my dog infected my whole family 3 times before we figured he was a carrier and gave him antibiotics

I usually just go the cheaper route and leave them in a plastic bag by the side of the road,

i think they usually get over it. in either case, it doesnt hurt to call the vet and ask him/her what to do.

Not too bad, he sneezes every 10 minutes or so if even that. You can hear his nose is runny though, he keeps making a sniffling noise...

Is he eating and drinking well? How old is he?

Might want to consider taking him in just to be safe.

follow the advice on the back of your standard OTC cold medication: see doctor if cold persists for more than XX days. I would set XX to 4 unless he gets seriously lethargic or starts sneezing chunks onto your walls.

strep is one of the few ones that can be transmitted from dog to human and back. If the dog is constantly ill (rare) take it in, especially if you notice family members sick concurrently.

I'd say that's a bad idea unless recommended by a vet.
I never said give him the medication... I just said to follow the advice it gives about seeing a doc if the condition persists...
