My PS/2 mouse port only works every other boot-up.

In WIN2000 with service pack3 installed, I have confirmed this on 3 different Nforce2 motherboards, 8RDA,8RDA+,NF7-S 2.0.

I did some troubleshooting to confirm this, and from a clean format, I installed Win2000, then installed Service Pack3 and then it started doing this.

I reboot and the mouse is there, then reboot a again and its gone, then reboot again and its back.

Apparently this is a WIN2000 problem only, as I dont see anybody complaining about this with WIN XP.

Anybody know a fix, I told my friend to just get a USB mouse and then its not a problem anymore, but that is really a Duct tape fix.

This is a very weird problem. I doubt it's a software problem. With the diagnostics you've done, you've eliminated all sources of problems except 1. Your mouse. I think you have a bad ps/2 mouse.

Nope it does this on three completeyl different systems, what they have in common is Nforce2 chipset motherboards,WIN2000 and service pack 3 installed.

everything else is different.

It only starts doing this after i install service pack 3.

when win2000 is first installed I dont have this problem.

I can install lots of other updates and it is still good, but as soon as i install service pack 3,the PS/2 mouse works every other boot-up.

What is the make/model of the mouse? Have you tried other mice in these motherboards? (Particularly PS/2 mice)

I'm thinking it may just be some anomaly with SP3 and your Nforfce drivers or something. Who knows? Are all your drivers up to date?

EDIT:
There are new Nforce drivers.
Here.

three different motherboards, 8rda,8rda+,NF7-S 2.0 .
these are totally different machines with totally different parts in totally different houses.

and all they have in common is Nforces chipset motherboard,win2000,service pack3.

thats it, I mean from all the troubleshoooting I have done it had to be a Nvidia's fault "chipset bug" or Microsoft's fault "WIN200 SP3 bug".

I just wonder who do i call and bitch at tech support.

I have tried evrything to fix this Bios flashes, Different nforce drivers, you name it I have done it, the only thing that works is not installing SP3 for Win2000.

Which you really need to get alot of functions.
