My processor isnt being read correctly in XP...

My Intel Pentium 4 3.2Ghz HT is only being read as 1.59Ghz in the System Profile tab of Windows XP SP2. If I go into System Info, it too is being read as 1.59. This is with HT disabled in the BIOS.

If I enable HT in the bios, it reads the speed as 799Mhz, not the 1.59 it should be.

If it matters, the device manager always shows the right proc listed there, whether it is 1 3.2 or 2 1.6's.

The numerical values of the system profile and system info dont matter to me if it really is running at the true speeds. But how do I tell?

I just installed and ran SiSoft Sandra for a benchmark. The computer is running at 1.6Ghz and this is again a 3.2 P-4 with HT disabled in the BIOS.

What is going on????

looks to me like you're at 100mhz when you should be at 200.

16X100 = 1.6ghz
16x200= 3.2ghz.

go in your bios & set your fsb to 200mhz.

It's most likely Speedswitch.

IIRC If you set the power options to 'always on' (in control panel) Speedswitch will sort of be disabled then.
