I have a 754 based computer specs are as followed:

a64 3000+
Kv8-Pro motherboard
512 patriot extreme performance
120gb maxtor hard drive 8mb cache
a punk *how you doing* case with a 600x POS PSU
evga 6600GT

My question is, Do i replace some key components(CPU, GPU, Add Ram)
if So what to stick with or what not
Do i sell it as a whole. but that could be hard cause of the 754 situation.
Its a good computer, but hey I dont get Hybrid I get the HEMI
Also I already have a maxtor 250gb 16MB cache hard drive waiting for the next beast.

It doesn't look like a problem to me. Your setup could last as long until future software demands heavy computing power. But in any case, you'll do fine for a while. Maybe just another 512 mb stick of ram is ok.

I'm sure others who advocates socket 939 mobos and pci-e cards will give a comment as well. If you want to sell your rig, do it while you have a chance.

wait so whats your problem? you dont think your comp is good enough or what? its looks great. u could prolly overclock to 2.3 to 2.4 GHz on stock cooling easy. then throw in another 512 ram. then in a year, u can buy a new videocard if u want.

Well Is throwing in a graphics card and another stick of ram gonna be effective enough for present times. I mean some of the reasons to go with 939 are upgradabilty and dual channel as well as being able to have top of the line graphic cards. As terms of new games coming out as well as BF2 which i will be getting . Can I survive.

well, as far as upgradability is concerned, with AMD bringing a new socket to market in the near future, you might want to hold out for that. BF2 will definately need more ram, that combined with your current vid card and settings adjusted you should be fine

Your system is already very nice. add another 512 stick of RAM, and a 6800GT and that system will be excellent.

Unless you are willing to go with a X2 4800+, 7800 GTX, 2 GB RAM right now. If so, get that. 🙂

Well I decided to go with a new system. Just ordered the eVGA 7800gt/Motherboard combo. How could I pass this up...Now lets just hope i sell my computer so it these two dont just sit there..lol
