Agh wtf!?! :(

I moved all our family pictures and dvd's to a portable external western digital harddrive, and had a backup on my desktop pc.

Both drives failed on me, they're making these nasty clicking sounds...what're the odds. :(

Dammit...any recommendations as to recovery services/programs?

Thanks man. Well the external drive was a USB powered 2.5" drive, and the PSU in my desktop is an antec trupower 430w.

Oddly, a trick I learned when I was working at compusa in my college days worked - I took the laptop drive and connected it to a 2.5" -> 3.5" board so I could connect it to my desktop, the bios gave an "incompatible atapi drive" error but windows sees the drive and is copying my files over as we speak. Hopefully I can get all 40gigs off it...

Get rid of the TP 430. Buy an Enhance ENP-5140GH from ewiz.com for < $60 shipped.
Read http://www.theflyingpenguin.com > My Blog > 09/17/05 half way down the page.
Be sure to check out his links in that post.

After you replace that POS Antec PSU, open it up and find vented/bulged Fuhjyyu Craps under the wiring harness (output side).
Then PM me with what you find. Keep using the TP and suffer somemore. :p (TP=Toilet Paper?)
