My pride was hurt today :*( Bike fallen over at stoplight

I don't know what the hell happened, i was sitting a stop light, i leaned right to adjust my pant leg and then quickly lean left. The momentum of the weight must have caught me off guard and the bike fell over lol.

The bike fell over and landed on my left leg. I got good use out of my ICON field armor boots today as it held all of the weight of the bike and saved my ankle. The bike wasn't scratched because it landed on my boot 🙂

Man that was embarrassing.

Here's the boot that saved my day

There was a lot of people around
I was just too embarrassed to look at their faces so I picked up the bike and gtfo of there

It's something about being embarrassed that gave me superman strength to pick up the bike with such ease lol. I'm only 120lbs

Well I just got the boots yesterday, and today it paid off.

I was laying on the road sideways because the bike is on top of my leg . It really surprised me the boot hold up the weight of the bike.

im assuming you did a 360 burnout before taking off again so onlookers didnt question your motorcycle mettle?

lol this is basically one of my fears were I to ride ... sounds like it's as embarrassing as I imagine it would be. 😛

it turned out pretty good for you though all things considered. just outta curiosity, what do you ride?

It's a horrible feeling. During the first week I was riding I stopped at a light and put my foot down into a small pile of gravel. It was in slow motion as my foot slid out from under me.

And like you said, somehow I had superhuman strength, pulled the bike right back up and rode off leaving a cloud of embarrassment behind me.

heh i feel ya. i stopped at a stop sign and as i was waiting for a car to pass by, i leaned ever so slightly left and *almost* dropped my bike. i was able to recover it though, by the slightest amount!

I feel your pain, I did that once when I was at the track waiting to tech on my busa. Very embarrassing... I did run a 9.07 @ 156 that night... so some of my pride was saved.

We've all had those moments with our bikes. Every few years I manage to forget to downshift when I come to a stop and stall out the bike when the light turns green and I'm reminded that I'm still in 5th. 😛

The best is inadvertent downshift when rolling to a red light / stop. Nothing like having your balls run into the tank to stop your body from continuing to go forward.

Given the cruiser/standard seating position, I don't have that issue. Can definitely see it being a problem with a sportbike though. 😉

D😀😀: wow! They look like they are 200 ish man those things are heavy!
LOL. If you know someone with a bike, walk up to it and straddle it. It'll see a lot bigger up close... or at least that was my reaction when I first got into sports bikes. It's not like you need to lift 400lbs off the ground. The center of gravity is low on the bike and picking it up isn't that hard.

I have frame sliders on my bike to (hopefully) save the plastic in a case like this. I've never had it happen, but I've read about it happening to others on bike forums.

This is why if you absolutely must noob it up by getting a clean bike as your learner bike, then you also ABSOLUTELY MUST get frame sliders.

Feel free to take about 20% of whatever you paid for the bike and imagine it being lit on fire, because that's what you just did to the value.

why do fairings cost so much? i'm always very confused by that, cause if i'm not mistaken, they're just fiberglass...

The honest answer is because they can. There's usually no aftermarket company to compete with so companies make big profit on them because there's nowhere else for buyers to go.

It's the same reason that Harley sells an $80 turn signal relocation kit for my bike in order to allow Harley saddlebags to fit rather than simply designing saddlebags that fit the bike with its stock turn signals. (Thankfully, in my case, there are aftermarket solutions.)
